Country White Bread Recipe

Homemade country white bread is the perfect soft white loaf. This homemade version of your favorite store bought white bread is so much better with fewer ingredients!

  • Bread Machine


  • cup water lukewarm
  • cup cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • tsp bread machine yeast
  • 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp olive oil
  • tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt


  • Add all the bread ingredients to the special pan in order recommended by your bread machine manufacturer. Let's knead.
  • Set to rapid setting and medium crust on the appliance. Press start.
  • When ready, turn the bread out onto a rack to cool.
  • Slice and enjoy.


Tip: When your bread cooker has been kneading for a few minutes, check the dough. If it will be too stiff, add a little bit of water and continue checking until it seems soft enough. If too wet, add more flour in small amounts until it seems to be soft yet not sticky.

  1. I don’t have use a bread machine, and would never get one. Ima retired bakery owner and bake the old fashioned way (plus a stand mixer) It would be great if instructions included methods for us old farts!
